April - Tomah-Warrens Sportsman Alliance
Board members present: Carl Johnson, Mike Borchers, Curt Gibeaut., Brian Peterson,
Paul Gasser, Marty Neas.
Old business:
· Carl Johnson read minutes from the March meeting. Mike Borchers made a motion to approve the minutes. This action was seconded by Curt Gibeaut.
· Carl Johnson reported that the electric outlet was installed for the outdoors deep-fryer for cooking.
· Carl Johnson also reported that our recent activities went well (e.g. Fishermen’s Night Out, Euchre party and National Turkey Federal Banquet). He did not have total numbers for deposits, but will make a report in out next session of final deposit amounts.
· Marlin Kemnitz made a Treasurer’s report for the month of March. Discussion also took place regarding the payment of utilities. A motion was made by Mike Borchers to have all of the costs for utilities come out of one account instead of separating out the costs as in the past. This was seconded by Brian Peterson.
· Discussion took place regarding recent insurance recommendations our Trap Range Rules. It was felt that some of these recommendations were un-reasonable for shooting. These concerns will be sent back to our insurance carrier for further discussion.
New business:
Shoot Gun:
May 17th Skeet, Trap and Five Stand Exchange Shoot between La Cresent and the
Tomah-Warrens Sportsman’s Club.
Conservation:
Fish will be delivered on April 18th and April 25th our trout pond will be open. We will
also have another Euchre party on April 25th.
Archery:
3D Archery Shoot will be on April 19th. Targets have all been moved out of the
Fairgrounds and back to the lower shield. Bow are now back at the Club House..
Carl made the recommendation to send out flyers regarding the April 19th Archery Shoot
A motion was made by Mike Brochers to spend money for postage to mail these flyers.
This was seconded by Brian Peterson.
Carl provided more of an update on the July 11th Scheels shoot.
He indicated again that Scheels is not offering to provide money for advertising this year
and noted that we will be on our own in promoting the shoot.
Summer 3D League will start June 4th. Summer League will go for the months of June, July and will conclude on August 13th. Boardhead shooting will start on August 20th. Our Broadhead shoot will be on August 30th.
Scholarships: Discussion took place regarding posting of the Tomah-Warrens Sportsman’s Alliance scholarship applications to be posted on our Website. It was suggested that this should be put in a PDF file for those that are interested in applying.
Rifle committee: Discuss took place about allowing Vern Nelson to explore more interest in developing rifle shooting. A motion was made by Curt Gibeaut and was seconded by Marty Neas.
